Job Summary:
As the Safety/Continuous Improvement Specialist you’ll be responsible for implementing all facets of the Safety and Continuous Improvement function. The position will assist the Plant Manager to ensure the facility implements and maintains a safe environment that strives to continuously improve. Assists with and/or facilitates all improvement projects relating to safety, quality and productivity, which lead to a reduction in OIR and DART, an improvement in first-pass quality and a reduction in customer complaints and product waste and an improvement in overall production through-put and efficiency. This position will also be responsible for complying with all safety, health and environmental regulations which will support the strategic business plan of the company.
Job Duties:Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Safety Program Leadership:
• Develop, implement and maintain safety programs and procedures in compliance with the relevant regulation. • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.• Investigate incidents and near-misses, and develop corrective and preventative actions.• Lead training programs on safety procedures, emergency response and other relevant topics. • Promote a strong safety culture by engaging employees and management in safety initiatives.
Continuous Improvement:
• Identify Opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.• Lead and facilitate continuous improvement projects, using methodologies like Lean and Six Sigma.• Analyze processes, identify bottlenecks, and develop solutions to improve performance.• Implement and monitor changes, ensuring that improvements are sustained. • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety and continuous improvement.
Required Competencies & Knowledge:
Skill in: • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.• Ability to analyze data and identify trends.• Proficiency in continuous improvement methodologies. • Knowledge of safety management systems.• Problem-solving and analytical skills.• Ability to train and educate employees.
Education and Experience:• Bachelor’s degree in related field (e.g. safety management, industrial engineering) or equivalent experience.• Experience in safety management and/or continuous improvement.• Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards (e.g. OSHA, EPA).
