What are the responsibilities and job description for the AV Systems Installer position at Heartland Audio Visual, Inc.?
About the Job:
Are you someone who enjoys working with your hands, learning new skills, and being part of a team? Heartland AV is looking for a motivated, hardworking individual to join our team as an AV Installation Technician I.
This is an entry-level position where you’ll learn how to install and support commercial audio, video, and lighting systems in schools, churches, government buildings, and businesses. What You’ll Be Doing:
✔ Hands-on Installation: Help install projectors, speakers, TVs, LED walls, and other AV equipment.
✔ Learn the Trade: Pull cable, mount equipment, and learn to set up audio/video systems.
✔ Teamwork: Work alongside experienced installers to complete projects.
✔ Variety of Work: Every day is different—some days in the shop preparing for a job, other days on-site installing equipment.
✔ Customer Interaction: Communicate professionally with customers when on-site.
✔ Paid Travel Perks: Some travel is required (about 30% overnight), but we cover all expenses, including per diem.
What We’re Looking For:
- Hardworking & Reliable – You take pride in your work and show up ready to learn.
- Comfortable Using Tools – If you’ve used hand or power tools before, that’s a plus!
- Good Communication Skills – You’ll work with a team and interact with customers.
- Physically Capable – Able to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders.
- Valid Driver’s License – You’ll need reliable transportation to and from our warehouse (near Newton, KS).
- Willing to Learn – Experience in AV, IT, construction, or electrical work is a bonus, but not required!
Why Join Heartland AV?

- Competitive Pay & Benefits – $15-$25/hr, Health Insurance, PTO, 14 Paid Holidays!
- Career Growth Opportunities – Start as an Installer, and grow into Lead Installer, Programming, or Engineering.
