Installs and maintains machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings in industrial establishments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reads and interprets blueprints, layout plans, vendor installation, operation manuals, and other schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
- Dismantles machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
- Moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
- Assembles and installs equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails, using cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
- Constructs foundations for machines using hand tools and building materials, such as wood, cement, and steel.
- Aligns machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
- Assembles machines and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastens them to a foundation or other structures using hand tools and power tools.
- May operate engine lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
- May use transit and level for equipment setting.
- Loads transport, and unloads materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Performs lubricating maintenance, cleaning activities, or repair of tools, machines, and equipment.
- Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
- Apply shop mathematics to solve problems.
- Compare and see differences in the size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.
- Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
- Perform a variety of duties, which may change often.
- Operate machinery, such as welding equipment, cutting torches, misc. power and hand tools.
- Work at heights without fear.
- Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
- Performs routine maintenance and housekeeping in the elevator. Records maintenance and housekeeping are performed in the appropriate logbooks.
- Solid understanding of confined space entry policy and procedures, as well as, lockout – tag-out policy and procedures.
- Other duties may be assigned.
