Description
We seek applicants for a full-time position on the Human Resources team to lead, manage, and supervise staff supporting functions related to employment, employee onboarding, and benefits, including insurance, leaves of absence, accommodations, flexible work schedules, Worker’s Compensation, OSHA, wellness/employee assistance programs, and retirement.
The Director works collaboratively to develop and execute best practices for Human Resources and evaluate HR policies and procedures, recommend changes to maintain currency and compliance, and provide consistent interpretation and application within the College. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director also assists in overseeing efficient daily operations of the Human Resources Office with an emphasis on providing excellent customer service and serves as the manager on duty in the Executive Director’s absence.
General responsibilities include but are not limited to- Supervise assigned staff. Foster team cohesion, communicate expectations, support employee development, provide feedback, and manage performance. Lead team members to identify, develop, and execute strategies to create process efficiencies and enhance cross training.
- Assess, develop, and oversee employment, onboarding, and benefits processes and related systems.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop, recommend, and execute College strategy for a comprehensive employee benefits program.
- Assess employee onboarding needs. Identify, develop, and deploy programming to effectively address needs.
- Develop and document processes related to employment, benefits, and HR systems.
- Oversee documentation and reporting of relevant metrics for areas of responsibility.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of reports and surveys.
- Oversee promotion and tenure processes for full-time faculty and adjunct faculty, including communication, record-keeping, metrics, and summary reports and training.
- Advise College leadership on a balanced compensation strategy that supports the direction of the College while considering varying employee groups/classifications.
- Protect the interests of employees and the College in accordance with laws and regulations regarding human resources. Maintain compliance with laws and regulations for human resources including, but not limited to, EEO, ADA, FMLA, and PLAWA.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or closely related field
- Minimum of four (4) years of progressive human resources management experience
- Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and other software to integrate various human resource functions and processes across the entire organization
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and ability to present to groups and collaborate effectively
- Ability to advance a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion and interact effectively within a diverse campus community
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism under pressure
- Functional skills using Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Management, or closely related field
- Related professional certification (such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, ATD)
- Supervisory experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of payroll practices and the integration with human resources
- Experience in public or nonprofit sector
- Community College human resource experience
