Disaster Specialist

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Disaster Specialist to lead and support federally-declared disaster recovery and mitigation efforts. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing federally-declared disaster projects, FEMA disaster recovery initiatives, or other federally funded projects within Puerto Rico. This is a critical role that requires in-depth knowledge of disaster response and recovery programs and the ability to manage complex projects effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage disaster recovery projects funded by FEMA or other federal agencies.
• Provide strategic direction and guidance to ensure compliance with federal regulations and policies, including FEMA's Public Assistance Program.
• Develop and manage project plans, budgets, and timelines to meet recovery objectives.
• Conduct assessments of disaster-impacted areas to identify recovery needs and propose solutions.
• Identify risks and challenges in disaster recovery projects and implement mitigation strategies.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience:
  • Proven track record in managing federally-declared disaster projects or FEMA disaster recovery initiatives.
  • Experience working on federally-funded projects within Puerto Rico.
• Knowledge:
  • In-depth understanding of FEMA programs, regulations, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Familiarity with federal funding mechanisms and compliance requirements.
• Skills:
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and develop actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in disaster recovery tools and software.
• Education: Bachelor's degree
