We are seeking a highly qualified FOIA Site Lead Specialist to support operations at Joint Task Force Guantanamo (JTF-GTMO) . The ideal candidate will have at least three (3) years of experience processing FOIA requests and reviewing proposed redactions. This role requires a bachelor's degree and the ability to provide FOIA-specific training and technical support .
The FOIA Site Lead Specialist will be responsible for developing action plans for new FOIA cases , ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and effectively managing contract performance obligations. The selected candidate must be willing to relocate or currently reside in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba .
Key Responsibilities
- Provide FOIA-specific training to action officers and offer technical guidance.
- Develop action plans for new FOIA cases and assign appropriate resources to fulfill contract performance requirements.
- Review and analyze FOIA requests, assess data availability and reliability, and coordinate with relevant personnel.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews for redactions submitted by JTF-GTMO Directorates.
- Track and coordinate responses from various offices, redacting materials where appropriate .
- Utilize the department's FOIA request management tracking system to process FOIA requests, including assembling legal documents, reviewing cases, redacting information, applying exemptions, and preparing responses for government approval.
- Draft and prepare response documents, including redactions and partial denials to protect sensitive information.
- Maintain communication with outside organizations and higher headquarters regarding FOIA-related matters.
