Position Overview:
Heartland is seeking a qualified Paralegal to provide advisory services and ensure compliance with federal and local policies, regulations, and laws. The attorney will play a critical role in interpreting federal policies, including the Stafford Act, and advising on their effective implementation. This position also involves document review and revision to meet the standards of local and federal government agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and provide expert interpretation of federal policies, such as the Stafford Act, and other applicable regulations.
- Advise on the implementation of federal policies
- Review, revise, and approve documents for submission to local and federal government agencies.
- Ensure all documents meet local and federal regulations, laws, and policies.
- Collaborate with internal teams to provide legal advice and support for regulatory compliance matters.
- Monitor changes in relevant laws, regulations, and policies and provide updates to ensure ongoing compliance.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree or higher
- Licensure: Licensed to practice law
- Experience:
- Proven experience with federal policies, including the Stafford Act, or similar federal disaster and emergency management policies.
- Experience in compliance, regulatory law, or advising on federal and local government matters.
- Skills:
- Strong legal research and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
- Proficiency in document review and revision, ensuring alignment with legal and regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with working on projects involving federal and local government agencies.
- Experience in disaster recovery or emergency management law.
- Knowledge of Puerto Rico's local laws and regulations.
