Lube Technician

Brief Description

Assists with repairs and preventive maintenance on vehicles and heavy equipment; and performs maintenance and custodial services in the shop.

Detailed Description

• Assists mechanics with repairing vehicles and equipment
• Cleans and maintains shop equipment and tools
• Maintains and monitors parts and fluid inventories
• Performs minor equipment repairs in the field
• Maintains shop in a clean and orderly manner
• Operates various hand tools, including spray gun, sander, grinder, grease gun, hydraulic jack, welding tools, power washer etc.
• Checks batteries and fluid levels in equipment and replaces or replenishes as needed
• Performs lubrication and related maintenance
• Repairs flat tires and tubes, including dismounting
• Picks up supplies and parts from vendors or suppliers as necessary
• Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

Job Requirements

• Regular attendance is essential
• Must arrive at work on time, prepared to perform assigned duties and work assigned schedule
• Must have acceptable driving record in accordance with companies Vehicle Policy
• Minimum of 3 year of driving experience
• Experience driving vehicles in all types of weather condition
• Must be an insured driver with license
• Ability to work independently and take initiative in performing work in the field
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule
• Pulling trailers and operating air tools for automotive repair
• Knowledge of automotive and equipment bodywork and repairs
• Safe operation of the equipment used
• Skill/Ability to perform a variety of body and minor mechanical repairs
• Preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment using a variety of power and hand tools

Physical Requirements

• Ability to frequently lift or carry containers, recycling bins, or loose materials to truck; which may result in twisting, pulling, pushing and bending, depending on the material and collection vehicle type
• Ability to climb, bend or stand for an extended period of time. In addition, individuals must be able to reach above shoulders and lift a minimum of 80lbs
• Capable of loading and unloading trucks
• Exposure to weather such as hot, cold, wet, humid and windy conditions
• Ability to operate trucks and other equipment as needed
• May be exposed to solvents, chemicals and refuse
• Keep informed of weather conditions
• Use of PPE when required such as reflective vest, gloves, steel-toe boots and hard hats
• Use of office equipment such as computer, phone, tablet, and electronic logs

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of mechanical experience
• High School Diploma or GED

This position requires the employee to work outdoors for long periods of time in all types of weather conditions typical of the area where the job is located, including dust, humidity, sleet, snow, rain, mud, cold, heat, wind, and other inclement weather. Working conditions for this position may involve exposure to varying outdoor conditions, including environmental chemicals, gases, noise, dampness, fumes, radiation, and heights. Employee must be able to work closely with others in the confined area of the job, in a fast-paced team environment, and work independently when required or directed, taking initiative when necessary.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
