Brief Description
This Soil Farmer will be responsible for operating various commercial vehicles and heavy equipment to support Soil Farming operations.
Detailed Description
- Operate trucks and heavy equipment to include 80 Barrels, Solid Spreader, Bobtails, Backhoes, Dump Trucks and Solid Trucks
- Maintain DOT logs and complete pre-and post-trip reports on tractor and trailers (per DOT regulations)
- Report defects to tractor or trailers to the appropriate department(s) and Supervisor
- Properly wear the required personal protective equipment while performing duties
- Follow all company and customer safety protocols
- Notify Supervisor, Safety and/or DOT of any issues or concerns while performing job duties
- Perform loading, unloading, and timely delivery of material to assigned/approved destination
- Read, understand, and prepare all required paperwork (Driver Inspection Reports, Tickets, etc.)
Job Requirements
- Must have a Class A or B CDL
- Minimum of 21 years of age
- Experience and ability to operate various pieces of heavy equipment
- Must successfully pass a DOT physical, pre-placement drug screen and satisfactory background check
- Must have acceptable driving record in accordance with companies Vehicle Policy
- Must demonstrate ability to work safely and adhere to all safety rules and regulations
- Perform safety checks, pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure safe operating condition
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in performing work in the field
- Minimum of 1 year of applicable commercial driving experience
- Experience driving various commercial vehicles in all types of weather condition
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule
- Able to work overtime as needed/required. Available for call-outs (evenings/nights, weekends and holidays)
- Able to travel as required for meetings, training, seminars, etc. which may be overnight, day(s), week, etc.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently lift or carry containers, recycling bins, or loose materials to truck; which may result in twisting, pulling, pushing and bending, depending on the material and collection vehicle type
- Ability to climb, bend or stand for an extended period of time. In addition, individuals must be able to reach above shoulders and lift a minimum of 80lbs
- Capable of loading and unloading trucks
- Exposure to weather such as hot, cold, wet, humid and windy conditions
- Ability to operate trucks and other equipment as needed
- May be exposed to solvents, chemicals and refuse
- Keep informed of weather conditions
- Use of PPE when required such as reflective vest, gloves, steel-toe boots and hard hats
- Use of office equipment such as computer, phone, tablet, and electronic logs
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of Soil Farming Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
Additional Details
This position requires the employee to work outdoors for long periods of time in all types of weather conditions typical of the area where the job is located, including dust, humidity, sleet, snow, rain, mud, cold, heat, wind, and other inclement weather. Working conditions for this position may involve exposure to varying outdoor conditions, including environmental chemicals, gases, noise, dampness, fumes, radiation, and heights. Employee must be able to work closely with others in the confined area of the job, in a fast-paced team environment, and work independently when required or directed, taking initiative when necessary.
