Brief Description
Transport Driver will be responsible for operating various commercial vehicles and heavy equipment. Responsible for transporting fluids by road in a timely and safe manner. To successfully transport fluids, the driver must showcase the following duties: follow delivery schedule, load the tank, transport fluid safely to the delivery site, unload the tank, accurately complete paperwork, operate tablet and other electronics, and adhere to safety and DOT regulations.
Detailed Description
- Operate equipment in accordance with DOT rules and regulations
- Transport fluids from location to the appropriate delivery site
- Load and unload tanks safely without spilling any material
- Open valves, connect hoses, start pumps, and read gauges to accurately record load(s)
- Maintain DOT logs and complete pre-and post-trip reports on tractor and trailers (per DOT regulations)
- Report defects to tractor or trailers to the appropriate department(s) and Supervisor
- Record proper fluid amount transported and required time(s) on tickets for each job and turn in the necessary back-up documentation (bill of ladings) to dispatch
- Properly wear the required personal protective equipment while performing duties
- Follow all company and customer safety protocols
- Notify Supervisor, Safety and/or DOT of any issues or concerns while performing job duties
- Perform and complete all necessary paperwork in accordance with DOT and company policies including, but not limited to, JSAs, DVIRs, and Pre- and Post-Trip Inspections
- Comply with and adhere to all FMCSA rules and regulations including carrying of permits, licenses, and position is responsible for alerting appropriate supervision when mechanical defects are noted on the truck as well as alerting supervision when hours worked may exceed
- Maintaining customer service satisfaction
- Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner
Job Requirements
- Class A CDL with Tankers Endorsement
- Minimum 21 years of age with 2 years driving experience
- Medical Examination Card (M.E. Card)
- Ability and knowledge of how to accurately track and maintain DOT logs
- 1 years of stable work history in a related field
- Must successfully pass a DOT physical, pre-placement drug screen and satisfactory background check
- Must have acceptable driving record in accordance with companies Vehicle Policy
- Must demonstrate ability to work safely and adhere to all safety rules and regulations
- Perform safety checks, pre-trip, and post-trip inspections to ensure safe operating condition
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in performing work in the field
- Experience driving various commercial vehicles in all types of weather conditions
- Able to work overtime as needed/required. Available for callouts (evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays)
- Able to travel as required for meetings, training, seminars, etc. which may be overnight, day(s), week, etc.
- Able to work well independently and in team settings
- Ability to provide information to supervisors and coworkers by telephone, in written form, email, or in person
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers, clients, and other external contacts
- Must be able and willing to work in extreme climate and work conditions
- Must be knowledgeable of hand signals used on locations
- Must be able to use company radio properly
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently lift or carry containers, recycling bins, or loose materials to truck, which may result in twisting, pulling, pushing, and bending, depending on the material and collection vehicle type
- Ability to climb, bend or stand for an extended period. In addition, individuals must be able to reach above shoulders and lift a minimum of 80lbs
- Capable of loading and unloading trucks
- Exposure to weather such as hot, cold, wet, humid, and windy conditions
- Ability to operate trucks and other equipment as needed
- Keep informed of weather conditions
- Use of PPE when required such as reflective vest, gloves, steel-toe boots, and hard hats
- Use of office equipment such as computer, tablet, phone, and electronic logs
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
Additional Details
This position requires the employee to work outdoors for long periods of time in all types of weather conditions typical of the area where the job is located, including dust, humidity, sleet, snow, rain, mud, cold, heat, wind, and other inclement weather. Working conditions for this position may involve exposure to varying outdoor conditions, including environmental chemicals, gases, noise, dampness, fumes, radiation, and heights. Employee must be able to work closely with others in the confined area of the job, in a fast-paced team environment, and work independently when required or directed, taking initiative when necessary.
