Assistant Marsh Manager

Position Summary:

The Assistant Marsh Manager is responsible for assisting in the implementation of all activity associated with the Marshes, as directed by the Marsh Manager. The Assistant Manager supervises the staff and ensures everyone is trained and able to perform their specific roles. The Assistant Manager also works closely with the Marsh Manager and other Marsh Sr. Leadership to make management decisions throughout the year.

Qualifications

Duties:

• In conjunction with the Marsh Manager, oversee and task Marsh staff and seasonal employees in the execution of all marsh activities, including pruning, irrigating, applying crop inputs, harvesting, flooding, maintaining, and performing winter maintenance in the marshes. (60%)
• Assist in the planning and scheduling of day-to-day activities throughout the growing season. (15%)
• With marsh staff, operate, repair and maintain various types of marsh equipment. (25%)
• Other duties as assigned by the Marsh Manager.

Qualifications:

• Technical Degree or Certificate in Cranberry Marsh Management is helpful.
• 4 years of Cranberry Marsh experience is preferred.
• 2-4 Years of experience operating agricultural/marsh equipment is a plus.
• Self-Starter & able to work independently and collaboratively.
• Pesticide applicators license. (Can be acquired after hire.)
• Detail-oriented & goal-driven.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (helpful):

• Mechanical operations & repair.
• Marsh equipment operation & repair.
• Metal fabrication techniques and procedures.
• Motor Vehicle operation.
• Ability to complete physical labor for extended periods of time in varying weather conditions.

Work Schedule:

The Assistant Marsh Manager’s schedule is highly dependent on the time of year and weather conditions. Employees will be expected to work as needed, which will require a great deal of flexibility as to the hours per day/week and the times worked. This is particularly true during the Cranberry Harvest season. Typically, the Asst. Marsh Manager can expect to work from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with occasional weekends, as needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires the ability to interact confidently and effectively with vendors, management and employees.
• Requires the ability to clearly understand verbal and written communication from others in person and by telephone.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Have the ability to travel by vehicle or air 10% of the time.

Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
