What are the responsibilities and job description for the Key Account Manager - West position at Heartland FPG?
We are seeking a Key Account Manager – West to oversee key retail accounts/wholesalers, drive sales growth, and manage broker relationships. The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial mindset, experience in retail merchandising, experience in driving wholesaler downstream distribution, broker relationship management skills, is detail-oriented, and possesses exceptional Excel and analytical skills to optimize sales performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key retail and wholesale accounts to drive retail and downstream sales and achieve revenue targets.
- Manage and collaborate with broker partners to ensure effective execution of downstream distribution, merchandising strategies and promotional programs.
- Analyze sales data, market trends, and customer insights to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Utilize advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data modeling) to generate reports, track KPIs, and provide actionable recommendations.
- Work cross-functionally with internal teams to align strategies, manage inventory, and optimize product placement.
- Comfortable challenging the status quo and finding creative ways to succeed with influence and removing barriers
- Ensure retail compliance, monitor store execution, and provide feedback to enhance merchandising effectiveness.
- Develop and implement strategic account plans that align with company objectives.
- Enter plans into TPM tools
- Prepare and deliver presentations, business reviews, and performance reports for key stakeholders.
- Comfortable pulling and analyzing spin and syndicated data
- Sample of account responsibilities: Albertsons Divisions, UNFI Downstream Distribution, C&S Downstream Distribution
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field
- 1-3 years of experience in key account / wholesaler management, retail merchandising, or broker management.
- Strong understanding of retail dynamics, category management, and trade marketing
- Exceptional Excel skills (data analysis, forecasting, reporting, promotional planning).
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and provide insights.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Ability to travel as needed to meet with key accounts and brokers.
