The role is on-site at our Indianapolis Manufacturing Plant, not a remote opportunity.

Scope:
The Dry Blending Team Leader facilitates the successful workflow of the shift and cascades direction from the Operation Manager. Serves as a resource and subject matter expert to all assigned personnel in assigned area of the Dry Blending Room and Manufacturing facility. As well as helps coordinate the activities of the Dry Blending Room. Capable of efficiently operating all product line machines within the department. Facilitates communication between the Blender level and the Main Floor level to ensure productivity metrics are met and maintains documentation with a high degree of accuracy and quality. Furthermore, they are accountable for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Inventory to ensure that Heartland FPG’s operations perform above industry standard.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities
:

  • Promotes safety amongst the team and conducts themselves in accordance with all safety guidelines at all times; Complies with all food manufacturing and safety regulations.
  • Utilizes all food safety and food security guidelines, including Safe Quality Foods (SQF) good manufacturing practices and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points.
  • Able to run all product line machines in the department, provide blending operator coverage in case of absences.
  • Communicates with Production Supervisor/Operations Manager to define daily work schedules that minimize overtime and reduce labor costs.
  • Uses expertise to provide guidance to staff when needed for continual improvement of key functions and activities to improve efficiency and meet increasing customer and business demands.
  • Maintains professional, helpful attitude in dealings with co-workers, supervisors, and their departmental personnel always.
  • Scanning materials to jobs if needed, sending out End-Of-Shift document upon completion of the shift if the Supervisor is not in room. Understand how to read & follow schedule for each blender in the room.
  • Will accurately pull quality samples & perform all needed quality testing & labeling
  • Inspects products for defects, and measures products to determine accuracy of blending operation, using rules, templates, or other measuring instruments.
  • Observes correction of blender malfunctions, and assists in adjusting machines, within tolerances, as necessary.
  • Accurately records all downtime for proper production calculations.
  • Reads job orders to determine product specifications to plan operational sequences.
  • Makes minor electrical and mechanical repairs and adjustments to blenders and notify supervisor/ maintenance when major service is required.
  • Starts up, shuts down, and completes product change overs on all manufacturing equipment following SOPs.
  • Maintains and completes documentation of permanent records for the company and its customers with a high degree of neatness and accuracy.
  • Complies with all food manufacturing and safety regulations.
  • Successfully completes all required training.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at the equivalent skill level as a Sr. Blending Specialist.
  • Must work well in a team environment and have strong communication skills.
  • Must have good job performance and attendance records.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and coach employees
  • Demonstrates essential problem-solving methods and initiative
  • Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and other company employees
  • At least 2 years prior supervisory or team lead experience is preferred

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to work extended hours, such as daily overtime and an occasional weekend.
  • Must possess visual acuity to document company records.
  • Continuous walking throughout plant and distribution center
  • Must be able to push or pull up to 75 pounds
