Medical Scribe

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Part-Time Medical Scribe to join our team with Heartland Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine. The scribe will work closely with our physician and clinical staff to accurately document patient encounters, manage electronic health records (EHR), and streamline clinical workflows. Characteristics of a successful candidate will include a dependable self-motivated professional who is an advocate of a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately document patient encounters in real-time under the direction of the provider
• Navigate and update patient information in the electronic health record (EHR) system
• Record patient histories, physical exams, diagnostic findings, procedures, and treatment plans
• Ensure accurate capture of coding and billing details
• Assist in coordinating documentation for referrals, test results, and follow-up care
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
• Support physicians and staff with other clerical duties as needed

Qualifications:

• Medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting
• Previous experience as a medical scribe or in a clinical setting is a plus
• Excellent typing, grammar, and communication skills
• Familiarity with medical terminology and EHR systems (Epic experience preferred)
• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
• Professional demeanor and strong attention to detail
• Minimum three years of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant. Previous scribing experience required.

Work Schedule:

Monday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Thursday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Friday: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
