Recovery Coach / Peer Mentor - Johnson County

Heartland Regional Alcohol and Drug Assessment...
Overland Park, KS Full Time
POSTED ON 3/29/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/29/2025

This position requires lived experience as someone with a minimum of 48 months of continuous recovery.

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Recovery Coach provides advocacy and support to individuals with substance use disorders (SUD) who are receiving services through Heartland Regional Alcohol and Drug Assessment Center (HRADAC). The primary area of support is focused on recovery from addiction but will also support stabilization in other areas such as physical health, mental health, social, recreational and life skills coaching.

The Recovery Coach role is designed to be a supplement to treatment, case management and/or care coordination services. It is an integral part to the Recovery Oriented Systems of Care model of

community-based services. The primary purpose is to help bridge the gap between professional services and sustainable recovery and to help individuals begin, maintain, and improve the quality of individual and family recovery.

The role of a Recovery Coach is to connect with the client who is in early recovery or struggling to establish early recovery. A course in mentor training focused on addictions, in addition to recovery experience, helps establish a peer relationship.

The Recovery Coach may work with clients individually and/or be a part of the HRADAC Care Coordination team, with the responsibility to help individuals gain access to needed resources, services, or supports that help them achieve and maintain recovery from their substance abuse disorder. As a part of an HRADAC client care team, the Recovery Coach’s role is non-clinical. The Recovery Coach will provide direct support to recovery solutions identified in a strengths-based recovery plan and will not focus on clinical issues, diagnose, provide counseling or refer to treatment.

Coverage area will include Johnson County.
