Heartland Stone located in Columbia, MO is looking for a Stone Countertop Polisher. This is a full time, year around position.
Job Summary
The Fabricator transforms stone and quartz slabs into finished products, focusing on cutting, polishing, and ensuring high-quality fit and finish. This role requires precision and skill to meet customer specifications and maintain production standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cutting and Grinding
- Grind and cut stone or quartz parts according to detailed cut sheets and job specifications.
- Operate manual tools (e.g., grinders, saws) and assist with CNC machine outputs as directed.
- Shape edges and surfaces to match design requirements, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Check parts against cut sheets to confirm dimensions and profiles before proceeding.
2. Polishing and Finishing
- Polish edges and surfaces to achieve specified finishes (e.g., honed, polished)
- using hand tools or polishers.
- Apply appropriate sealants following manufacturer instructions and material guidelines.
- Inspect finished pieces for quality, addressing imperfections like scratches or uneven edges.
- Ensure proper fit and finish for seamless installation, adjusting as needed.
3. Quality Control
- Inspect work at each stage for consistency, precision, and adherence to customer specs.
- Compare completed parts to templates or drawings, correcting deviations promptly.
- Report quality issues or material defects to the Production Specialist for resolution.
- Maintain a clean workspace to prevent contamination or damage to finished products.
4. Support and Maintenance
- Assist with tool setup and cleanup, ensuring equipment is ready for ongoing use.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, such as supporting rush jobs or training laborers.
- Collaborate with digital technicians and templaters to clarify job details and improve outcomes.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- 1 year in stone fabrication or a related hands-on trade preferred.
- Familiarity with polishing, cutting, or sealing processes is a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
- Precision and attention to detail for crafting high-quality stone products.
- Proficiency with fabrication tools (e.g., grinders, polishers) and basic machine operation.
- Ability to read cut sheets and interpret job specifications accurately.
- Physical dexterity and stamina for handling tools and materials.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and maneuver up to 75 lbs (e.g., slabs, tools) frequently and safely.
- Capacity to stand, bend, and work with hands for extended periods in a shop setting.
- Comfort working with dust, noise, and heavy materials in a fabrication environment.
Working Conditions
