Full Time Kennel Technician:
Heartland Veterinary Hospital is looking for a full time kennel technician to add to our team! Our mission is to provide the highest level of medical, behavioral, and surgical care for our patients while serving our clients considerately and compassionately.
Heartland Veterinary Hospital began serving the Danville community in 1985. The hospital became an accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Associate (AAHA) in 1992. As a full service, small animal hospital, Heartland focuses on providing high quality care for our patients while treating them like family. Our hospital provides emergency, preventative, surgical and dental care, canine and feline boarding, doggie daycare and even some adoptions!
The ideal candidate will need to have a passion for animals and helping people. They need to be a fast learner, team player, have excellent written and oral communication skills, enjoy a fast paced environment, and are always an exceptional worker. This position is very active with minimal sitting. Candidates need to be physically able to handle this type of active working environment. The kennel environment is pretty noisy with barking dogs, candidates must be able to handle a loud working environment at times.

Duties will include but are not limited to:
· Provide kennel boarders with their correct food in properly measured portions.
· Provide fresh/clean water throughout the entire day
· Clean inside and outside kennel runs daily. This includes removal of feces, spraying down with chemicals, and spraying out of every run
· Medicate animals 2-3 times daily
· Provide restroom and exercise breaks to boarders
· Maintain an exceptionally clean kennel environment
· Wash dog food and water bowls
· Wash cat food and water bowls, and litter pans
· Keep cat room clean and vacuumed at all times
· Keep an organized record of boarders belongings
· Provide baths and nail trims to boarders upon going home
· Maintain a clean outdoor environment by keeping feces picked up
· Help with and run doggy daycare
· Ensure boarder and doggy daycare dogs safety
· Monitor animal behavior and health during their stay and notify the hospital staff with any abnormalities noted
· Intake and discharge of boarders and doggy daycare
· Assist hospital staff as needed in a vet assistant type role
· Must be able to monitor/handle large groups of dogs comfortably
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $11.00 per hour
Our hours are Monday-Friday 7:30am to 5:45/6pm and Saturday 7:45am to 12:00pm.
You will be required to work four days during the week and every other Saturday adding up to a total of 37 to 40 hours weekly. You will be required to work one major holiday per year.
