What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Associate position at Hearts for the Homeless?
Position Summary:
The Warehouse Associate (WA) must be a team oriented individual capable of working in a fast paced, dynamic environment. WA’s will utilize a forklift multiple times a day to move goods, pallets and equipment safely and securely. A WA's duties include utilizing factory equipment to sort products efficiently, monitor and exclude defective items, maintain a clean and organized production area, assist in loading and unloading items, and adhering to the safety protocols and regulatory procedures. WAs must have excellent time-management and multi-tasking skills, as well as in-depth product knowledge to classify items accordingly.
Essential Functions:
- Use forklift to transport bales and capsacks to their correct locations in the warehouse and stack them appropriately
- Use a forklift to remove pallets from the back of the trucks during the unloading process.
- Use forklift to transport pallets and gayloads to correct location in the warehouse and stack them appropriately
- Properly unloading donations from multiple trucks per day.
- Create bales throughout the day.
- Assist in maintaining warehouse inventory and organizing in a manner that best assists the overall operation.
- Work effectively with customer service representatives, leadership, and donors in a team environment.
- Maintain a customer-focused perspective in all activities initiated to ensure that company needs are successfully met.
- Perform job duties accurately so that other personnel and departments, and ultimately customers receive correct information and/or product.
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures, and all policies and procedures in the employee handbook to ensure safety for self and fellow employees and to ensure behavior is appropriate in the workplace.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education Requirements and Qualifications:
- Forklift Certification Required.
- Being able to maintain Forklift Certification is Required
- Excellent communication, organizational and multitasking skills.
- Requires good attendance and punctuality.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to work on one’s feet up to ten hours a day.
- Must be able to lift products (boxes, bags, etc.) weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to read and complete Hearts Foundation Inc. required electronic documents as needed.
Hearts for the Homeless offers a competitive wage, based on experience; in addition to paid holidays and vacation time.
Job Type: Full-time and Part-time
Pay: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour

Experience: 2 years warehouse experience preferred
Certification: Forklift - Required; must be able to provide certification card.
