Job Title: Personal Care Attendant
Job Description: Also known as; Caregiver and/or Family Caregiver
Personal Care Attendants at Hearts Open Home Care provide crucial services to individuals in their own homes who need assistance due to old age, sickness, disability, or other afflictions. This role demands compassion, respect, and a deep commitment to improving our clients' quality of life. Attendants assist with daily living activities and household tasks, ensuring that services are delivered with dignity and in line with agency standards.
Reporting Relationship:
1. Reports directly to the Supervisor.
2. Family Caregiver or Not Family care.
Responsibilities and Activities:
Personal Care:
1. Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and medication reminders.
2. Help with mobility, transferring, and positioning of clients.
3. Support clients with eating, including special diet compliance as prescribed.
Household Management:
1. Perform housekeeping tasks like cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
2. Conduct essential shopping and errands as per the care plan, handling client’s money under supervision.
Health and Safety Monitoring:
1. Ensure client’s safety and security by supervising the home environment.
2. Escort clients to medical facilities, errands, shopping, and outings as needed.
Companionship and Mental Stimulation:
1. Provide emotional reassurance and encouragement.
2. Engage in activities that stimulate the mind and maintain social interaction.
Team Collaboration:
1. Provide input and suggestions in Care Team meetings.
2. Monitor resources and participate in program evaluations.
3. Maintain constructive relationships with clients, families, and coworkers.
4. Maintain Professional and Personal Boundaries. NO exchanging of phone numbers, Absolutely, no telling the client personal information. You go to client's home because of your career in compassionate services, nothin more.
Documentation and Communication:
1. Observe and report any significant changes in the client's condition to the Supervisor.
2. Complete and maintain records of activities, observations, and service hours.
3. Attend training sessions and staff meetings.
Required Knowledge:
1. Knowledge of personal care and home management preferred.
2. Understanding of client service principles, quality standards, and client satisfaction evaluation.
Required Skills/Abilities:
1. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
2. Ability to understand and empathize with client reactions and needs.
3. Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
4. Problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions.
Physical and Mental Demands:
1. Good physical and mental health, with the ability to handle physical tasks and job related stress.
Qualifications/Education:
2. CPR Certification
3. Negative TB skin test.
4. Valid driver’s license and proper vehicle insurance coverage.
5. Clear background screening, including, NO CPS and APS, a negative OIG and PLA verify.
Training/Experience:
1. Relevant experience preferred but not required.
2. On-the-job training provided for specific tasks.
