Job Summary

The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for the management and implementation of various program operations and functions that comprise an effective and successful program . The Clinical Coordinator is a key program leader and collaborates closely with the Program Director to ensure the program exceeds contractual commitments set forth by NYC Administration for Children’s Services (ACS).

About the Program

The Family Treatment Rehabilitation Program (FTR) located in Brooklyn NY, offers intensive preventive services to families at risk of removal of children to foster care due to neglect and abuse. Risk factors for families served by the FTR program include mental health and substance use. Using Solution Based Casework, we actively work with families to develop plans that make them stronger, and keep them together and to address the Mental health and substance use issues impacting the family.  We encourage families to build connections to positive supports in their community who will help them sustain their progress and can be in place after our services discontinue. Our goal is to partner with families to keep them together while ensuring that children will be safely cared for. We utilize a collaborative team approach to provide services to families and ensure families progress through the three Treatment phases of FTR.

Job Responsibilities

The Clinical Coordinator is passionate about providing high-quality, evidence-informed services to families involved in the child welfare system to keep families together safely and ensure child well-being. Rooted in professional development, committed to developing their clinical and administrative skills and implementation of the FTR model. Dedicated to modeling strength-based, trauma informed practice with staff, families, and other program and agency stakeholders. Committed to providing effective management, leadership, and supervisory skills to ensure successful program operations. Focused on performance management goals to ensure that the program regularly exceeds expectations.

Leadership

  • Serve as a program leader for the advancement of the FTR and SBC models as well as the agency’s mission, vision, and values in partnership with the Program Director.

  • Serves as back up for Program Director and assists in day to day program operation and cohesive messaging.

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff as well as external stakeholders.

  • Responsible with program leadership team to uplift and support positive staff morale.

  • Accountable for the smooth and seamless operation of various program functions.

  • Hold self and others to high expectations for performance excellence.

  • Provides supervision for clinical/facilitation staff and assists with case reviews as needed.

 Program Operations

  • Assist in recruiting and hiring varied levels of staff in collaboration with program director to ensure high quality performance in all program areas.

  • Take referrals, and ensure that they meet the FTR model criteria and assist in Pre JHV and referral assignment . Oversee Early Engagement meetings, and partnerships with referral sources.

  •  Supervise Family Team Conference Facilitators to ensure an effective and purposeful conferencing process throughout the program in which all expected conferences are held within mandated timeframes and offer a positive experience for families.

  • Plan, schedule and coordinate the required Clinical Diagnostic Team (CDT) meetings (composed of program staff of varied levels) according to funder’s criteria so that program staff engage in vigorous clinical conversations regarding treatment and services to shape effective decisions that move families forward.

  • Provide supervision to the program CASAC and provide high quality clinical consultation with staff around substance abuse and mental health concerns impacting the families served and participate as needed.

  • Provide supervision to interns , CASA, & FTC while  assist facilitating groups, workshops, and participate in programmatic events.

  • Exhibits effective verbal and written communication/presentation skills.

  • Provide administrative support to Program Director to ensure that program is in compliance with OCFS and NYC Children’s Services’ policies and protocols.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications


Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent required in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling
  • Experience working with the mentally ill/substance abusing population.
  • Experience in foster care, preventive services or related field is also favorable.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are also required, as well as being computer literate.
  • Experience running staff trainings, psycho-educational groups, and Bilingual is strongly preferred.
