Position: AMI / AMS Montessori Toddler Guide (Summer Program)
Location: Heartwood Montessori
Job Type: Full-time (Summer Program, with the possibility of extending into school year.)
Role Overview: The Montessori Toddler Guide will guide children aged 16 months to 3 years in a carefully prepared Montessori environment, fostering independence, curiosity, and a love of learning. This role requires a deep commitment to Montessori philosophy, strong observation skills, and an ability to support each child's unique developmental journey. The position is for Heartwood Montessori's
Summer Program only, though extending into the school year may be possible for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate Montessori learning environment (indoor and outdoor) for the summer session.
- Foster a warm, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
- Observe children closely, assess developmental progress, and adapt lessons to meet individual needs.
- Partner with families to support children’s development and maintain open, positive communication.
- Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to uphold Montessori values and school policies.
- Ensure classroom materials are clean, organized, and accessible.
- Guide children in self-care, independence, and practical life skills.
- Model and encourage grace, courtesy, and respect in the classroom community.
- Attend staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as required.
Qualifications:
- AMI / AMS Montessori certification (Assistants to Infancy level) required.
- Experience working with toddlers in a Montessori environment
- Strong understanding of Montessori principles and child development.
- Ability to observe, document, and assess children’s progress.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to professional growth and collaboration.
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
