Heartwood Nature Programs offers year-round classes and camps at Saint Edward State Park, just northeast of Seattle in Kenmore, WA. this summer Heartwood offers 7 weeks of 100% outside day camp. We are looking for candidates who love being in nature and are energized working with children. Summer Camp Directors run the show and oversee 3-4 camp counselors and their campers. Each day our camp includes themed activities, yoga, mindfulness, crafts, field games, and hiking. Potential for employment in our school-year outdoor programs as an educator.

Summer Camp Director
Heartwood offers 7 weeks of 100% outside summer day camp. We are looking for candidates who love being in nature and are energized working with children. Each week includes themed activities, yoga, mindfulness, crafts, field games, and hiking. Summer Camp Directors guide and support camps and camp counselors, leading their camp into a fun-filled, memorable summer experience! Camp Directors wear many hats and build relationships with campers, staff, and parents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Holds the framework of the camp day, guiding the campers and camp counselors through the day
- Actively integrate participation, compassion, thought, and informed action to build a supportive community
- Leads morning and afternoon camp circle times
- Substitute as needed
- Participate in staff meetings and activities
- Plan, organize, and co-facilitate CIT and counselor training
- Provide support to camp counselors through training and day-to-day
- Supervise summer interns & junior counselors
- Organize and maintain class materials, supplies, and resources
- Develop positive relationships with campers, staff, and parents
- Responsible for the safety and health of campers and staff
- Perform daily and ongoing site risk assessments
- Photograph the highlights of camp
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

- Love and prior experience working with children

- Current CPR & First Aid Certification Adult/Child, (Wilderness first aid a plus), or willingness to acquire

Compensation and Benefits:
- This is a temporary summer position, ability to apply for year-round educator and/or coordinator position
- Pay range: $22-$25/hour
Hours:
Depending upon the camp assigned, work hours will be either:
8:00am - 4pm
8:15am - 1:15pm
8:45am - 3:15pm
9:00am - 1pm
Days: Monday thru Friday
Must be available for 2 or more weeks of camp
Week 1, Jun 25 - 28 (Tu - Fr)
Week 2, Jun 30 - Jul 3 (Mo - Th)
Week 3, Jul 7 - 11
Week 4, Jul 14 - 18
Week 5, Jul 21 - 25
Week 6, Jul 28 - Aug 1
Week 7, Aug 4 - 8
Required Training Dates:
June 12 and 16-17
June 1st is not required but is recommended
