Job Title: Senior Automation Specialist
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- The Senior Automation Service Specialist understands the design and intent of mechanical equipment and systems (Chiller, Boiler, Custom AHU’s, Primary/Secondary pumping, Variable flow Chilled water plants, Clean Room Applications, Demand Response, and Energy solutions).
- Works with the Automation Service Manger to propose assigned work and identify business opportunities.
- Analyze systems and assist in the development of scope of work for controls implementation.
- Lead on all aspects of assigned projects. Including: Design, Graphics, Programming, Start-up, Commissioning, and As-builts.
- Ensure profitability on assigned projects as well as assigned service contracts and identify potential hazards prior to financial downfall
- Monitor, identify and diagnose potential problems using computer workstations and on-site observations.
- Interface with customers, engineers, and contractors to install and service building automation systems and project.
- Lead customer training on assigned projects.
- Lead technical and programming efforts on small/large enterprise multi-site accounts.
- Maintain relationships with customers on assigned accounts.
- Ensure successful warranty turnover on assigned projects.
- Partner with customers as trusted technical advisor
- Function as technical and programming lead on assigned service projects and PM accounts.
- Partner with project and service team to delegate tasks as needed to ensure successful project execution
- Provide coaching, mentoring and technical assistance to field staff and customers.
- Partner with the design and graphical team and make recommendations to improve customer deliverables and process efficiencies.
- Able to locate defective or non-operational components in new and existing systems, using test equipment and programming expertise.
- Minimum 10 years direct automation experience (BAS) with control systems and programing required would fit this position.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
- Knowledge of DDC Control Theory, BACnet, LON, and Modbus
- Control systems product line knowledge with ALC, Alerton, Delta, Distech, Honeywell, JCI, Loytec, Niagara, or Trane a plus.
- Strong integration knowledge of LON, BACnet, Modbus, and proprietary systems a plus
- Ability to interface with customers at a supervisory and management level.
- Engineering skills required including knowledge of electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, or computer programming.
- Knowledge of BAS analytics and/or fault detection & diagnostics (FDD) software platforms a plus.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Visio a plus.
- CEM certification or equivalent a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good computer skills, understanding of controls networking.
- A valid driver’s license.
