Position
We’re looking for a Baking Assistant with a deep passion for sourdough, fermentation, and artisanal baking. You’ll work closely with our bakers to mix, proof, shape, and bake naturally leavened bread, alongside crafting an elevated breakfast and lunch menu featuring small-plate offerings. This role requires a blend of technical skill, creativity, and a solutions-oriented mindset to maintain our high standards while pushing the boundaries of what a café menu can be.
Responsibilities
- Sourdough Mastery – Mix, ferment, shape, and bake sourdough loaves and other naturally leavened baked goods.
- Creative Menu Execution – Assist in preparing small-bite plates that align with our seasonal, ingredient-driven breakfast and lunch offerings.
- Recipe Development & Adaptation – Contribute ideas for unique, inclusive menu items catering to gluten-free, dairy-free, and meat-free guests.
- Precision in Proofing & Baking – Monitor fermentation times, dough hydration, and bake quality to ensure consistent excellence.
- Commercial Kitchen Operations – Maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow best practices in food safety and kitchen efficiency.
- Team Collaboration – Work closely with fellow bakers and front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and communication.
- Solutions-Based Approach – Troubleshoot challenges in dough hydration, proofing times, or recipe adjustments with confidence and creativity.
- Inventory & Prep Management – Track ingredient levels, communicate restock needs, and prep efficiently for daily service.
