Heath Outdoor Products, located just outside of Grand Rapids in Coopersville, MI, is a leading manufacturer of wild bird products.
We are currently recruiting for a highly driven 1st shift Manufacturing Process Operator.
The Machine Process Operator directly coordinates the operation of the blending and packaging equipment in the Manufacturing Department on his or her assigned shift. The Machine Process Operator works directly with the Production Leader, and Material Handler and complies with all safety, quality, quantity, and housekeeping standards. associated paperwork.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Coordinates the operation of the blending, filling, and packaging equipment prior to the final pack out operations to meet or exceed the production schedule.
2. Work closely with the Production Leader, and Material Handler to make sure that the blending and filling equipment is ready to run at the beginning of the shift, and that all required materials are readily available to support the daily production operations.
3. Work closely with the Production Leader to make sure that all supporting documentation is completed for every production run, and that all key indicators are reported to the Supervisor.
4. Work with the Production Leader, and Material Handler to improve production efficiencies, and reduce costs.
5. Provides daily updates to the Supervisor, and Maintenance on equipment reliability and processes that are in of need maintenance or repair.
6. Recommends improvements to production processes, methods and controls using Lean Manufacturing concepts and processes.
7. Report any and all safety concerns, incidents, or accidents to the Supervisor immediately, and support departmental safety initiatives.
8. Maintain adherence to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
9. Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment.
10. Reports any process issues to the Supervisor, and Maintenance.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- 2-4 years’ experience as an industrial machine operator.
- 2-4 years’ experience as an industrial maintenance mechanic.
- Able to communicate with employees at all levels within the organization.
- Working understanding of operations and equipment.
- Must be PC literate; Microsoft Word and Excel competency.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
