Heatherwood Communities was established in the mid-1950s and has been a mainstay in Long Island real estate for decades. Today the company has over 30 properties including 2 golf courses. Spy Ring Golf Club is a 9-hole Tyler Rae design located in South Setauket, NY.
We are looking to add team-oriented individuals with a passion for the game of golf and course management. This staff member will require a positive attitude, strong work ethic, ability to work with the team as well as work alone, and willingness to learn all aspects of golf maintenance.
The Golf Course Maintenance position will assist the course maintenance staff in day-to-day operations, perform daily course maintenance responsibilities to a high level, and incorporate safe work practices in job performance. The potential candidates would be capable of following instructions as given and would adopt the department’s culture in behavior, work ethic, and appearance. Our team puts a lot of effort into creating a unique development plan to enhance each team member's skills and focus on work-life balance as a key component.
This is a full-time seasonal position that runs from April through December.
Requirements:- Valid Driver’s license
- Physical ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and perform tasks in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to work weekends, or overtime as needed
- Must have a TEAM mentality. The right candidates must have the willingness to learn and grow. Must be self-motivated, lead by example, and have a strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- The employee is expected to change cups on Greens daily.
- Operating small machinery for necessary shrub and tree trimming including hedge trimmers and hand tools
- Participating in the course set up including changing tees, picking up trash, changing cups, changing flags, fixing divots, and fixing ball marks
- Operating Mowers including: greens, fairways, rough, sidewinder, and push mowers
- Operate a powered debris blower.
- Hand rake traps.
- Employees must weed-whack tee areas daily.
- Adherence to all relevant OSHA safety protocols
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and 100 pounds with help
- Operating / legal use to drive golf carts, utility carts, and motor vehicles including those with manual transmission
- Trim around benches daily.
- Training available on small machinery and tractors.
