What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sports Coordinator position at HEATHROW COUNTRY CLUB?
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00-12:30 PM (Seasonal).
The Sports Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading engaging sports activities for campers aged 3-7 years (Kids Camp) and 8-12 years (Tween Camp). This role involves creating a dynamic schedule of age-appropriate sports and games, ensuring a safe and positive environment, and managing equipment and supply needs within budget.
- Develop and implement a weekly sports schedule tailored to each age group.
- Introduce campers to various sports, including soccer, football, field hockey, volleyball, and more.
- Modify games and activities to ensure inclusivity and participation for all skill levels.
- Lead Tween Camp sports sessions from 9:30 - 11:00 AM and Kids Camp sessions from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM daily.
- Incorporate fun, team-building activities and relay-style games for younger campers.
Camper Engagement & Safety:
- Provide clear instructions and demonstrations for each sport or game.
- Ensure all campers are engaged and foster teamwork and good sportsmanship.
- Maintain a safe playing environment, enforcing rules and handling any conflicts.
- Recognize and address any camper needs, including hydration and rest breaks.
Equipment & Budget Management:
- Create and maintain a list of necessary sports equipment and supplies.
- Stay within the designated budget when purchasing or replacing equipment.
- Set up and break down all sports-related activities each day.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with the Camp Director and other staff to coordinate activities.
- Communicate effectively with camp counselors to assist with transitions between activities.
- Report any injuries, incidents, or concerns to the Camp Director immediately.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children in a sports or camp setting required.
- Knowledge of a variety of sports and ability to teach fundamental skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt activities based on age group and individual camper needs.
- CPR/First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to be active outdoors for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting, setting up, and carrying sports equipment.
