Bus Driver

Reports To: Director of Facilities
Work Schedule: Morning and afternoon route, potential for additional driving during athletic events or field trips
FLSA status: Part-time hourly, 30 hours per week
Position Summary
The position of bus driver is one where safety and timeliness is vital to the success of the driver. The bus driver is responsible for obeying all traffic rules and regulations while transporting our student to/from school, events, or field trips. The ideal candidate will possess a Commercial Driver's License in good standing.
Essential Functions
- Follow planned bus routes, making scheduled stops to pick up and/or drop off students
- Visually inspect bus before beginning daily route and at the conclusion of daily route
- Reporting any bus and/or student issues to Transportation leadership
- Compliance with any required drug testing/physical examinations in accordance with SCDOT
Specific Job Skills
- Ability to operate school bus safely
- Ability to follow safety and traffic laws including speed limits
- Ability to maintain positive attitude and have professional interactions with students and parents during pick up and drop off
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 1-year experience school bus driving experience preferred
- Bus passenger (P) and School bus (S) endorsements preferred, or CDL without endorsements but a willingness to obtain endorsements
Working Conditions
- Expansive school campus with 122 acres, must be able to travel between buildings independently as needed and work on a school bus as a driver.
- Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending may be required throughout the day at various intervals
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
