Overview
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities and autism. Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation.
- Provide support for individuals with developmental disabilities and autism by fostering a safe and nurturing environment.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs and preferences.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and skill development.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the client's living space to ensure a comfortable environment.
- Document daily activities, progress, and any changes in the client's condition as required.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
- Support clients in accessing community resources and participating in recreational activities.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in home care, memory care, or caregiving is preferred.
- Knowledge of patient care techniques and best practices for supporting individuals with autism or developmental disabilities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Compassionate nature with a commitment to enhancing the lives of those you support.
- Ability to perform light cleaning tasks as part of maintaining a safe living environment for clients.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed, including evenings or weekends.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid is a plus but not required at the time of hire; training will be provided.
