What the Role Is

The Operations Manager is responsible for managing and leading bottling and processing departments at Deep Eddy Vodka Plant in Buda, Texas. This position is responsible for providing successful management, planning and coordination of the manufacturing operation. The Manager will provide technical, functional and operational expertise in department work policies/procedures, and make recommendations concerning overall equipment efficiencies, capacity planning, continuous improvement, budgeting, staffing, and performance management. There will be a strong focus on continuous improvement and lean manufacturing.

How You Will Spend Your Time?

  • Supervises the activities of employees directly related to the manufacturing of Deep Eddy Vodka products
  • Direct and coordinate activities of the bottling and processing departments
  • Review performance, productivity and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement
  • Manage staff, preparing work schedules, and assigning specific duties
  • Determine staffing requirements, interview, hire, and train new employees, or oversee those staffing processes
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining Continuous Improvement culture
  • Assist in development of strategic plans to optimize manufacturing processes and achieve business goals
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to streamline processes, reduce waste and increase efficiency
  • Oversee quality control processes in bottling and processing departments to ensure compliance with standards and implement procedures to maintain quality control
  • Provide leadership and guidance to operations team and promote the Spirited Commitment within the bottling and processing departments
  • Monitor our KPIs and keep employees abreast of our performance throughout the year
  • Collaborate with partners at Heaven Hill to ensure timely delivery of materials and components for manufacturing
  • Manage employee compliance to our health and safety procedures to create a safe work environment for our team
  • Collaborate with team members to accomplish our goals
  • Contributes to planning and execution of Capital Projects
  • Help allocate resources effectively to meet production targets and minimize costs, including labor and materials
  • Participate in the purchase and installation of equipment for the bottling and processing departments
  • Contribute to plant and safety meetings each month

Who You Are…

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field or equivalent supervisory/management experience
  • Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Three (3) years’ experience managing front-line supervisors
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and techniques
  • Experienced in creation of a continuous improvement culture, involving and empowering employees
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to plan, organize, and motivate others
  • Up-to-date knowledge of technical developments in the industry
  • Must possess strong leadership and problem solving skills
  • Coach and provide leadership and support to team members
  • Good managerial and presentation skills
  • Strong decision maker
  • Must be customer–centric with good relationship skills
  • Excellent computer skills
