The Senior Manager, Corporate Health and Safety Programs is responsible for the creation, execution and monitoring of corporate safety programs that reduce risk across the organization. This position will be responsible for creating programs that drive compliance with all health and safety regulations and administering communications for a comprehensive accident prevention/safety program. The role also provides assessment and guidance relating to hazardous conditions that pose a risk to the health and safety of employees and makes recommendations using Health and Safety (HS) systems data.

What the Role Is
The Senior Manager, Corporate Health and Safety Programs is responsible for the creation, execution and monitoring of corporate safety programs that reduce risk across the organization. The role also provides assessment and guidance relating to hazardous conditions that pose a risk to the health and safety of employees and makes recommendations using Health and Safety (HS) systems data.
How You Will Spend Your Time?
- Manages overall safety compliance across the organization.
- Accountable for developing written corporate-wide HS policies, programs, and procedures to drive standardization across the organization.
- Ensure written programs are comprehensive and compliant across all facilities to meet all safety requirements.
- Manage the creation and oversight of facility HS compliance calendars to ensure company HS KPI goals are achieved across all North American operations.
- Accountable for HS document management system. Provides direction and oversight of completion of all HS regulatory reporting and other technical documents.
- Accountable for the corporate-wide HS training program and assess overall HS developmental needs through systems to drive training initiatives and identify and create robust training solutions for various employee groups with a focus on relevant subject matter for various teams and sites. The position is responsible for creatively designing and implementing effective methods to educate, enhance, and streamline safety performance, and is responsible for keeping all training programs up to date with current practice.
- Deliver training to operations facilities on various topics related to safety compliance (e.g. confined space entry, fall protection, LOTO, etc.) to actively engage employees in safe behaviors and create a robust feedback culture around HS.
- Manages the review and approval of all chemicals used for research and development as part of the corporate Hazard Communication program and liaise with the Environmental compliance team to maintain up-to-date chemical inventory and proper handling and spill procedures.
- Coordinate with facility personnel to conduct comprehensive annual facility audits to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local HS regulations, and international regulations where applicable. Develop corrective action plans to address any findings and drive compliance through standardized actions that can be applied across all of operations.
- Manage the HS technology systems (e.g. PMap, MSDS Online, Brady, ISN, Safety Culture) and drive continuous improvement using data analytics and system capabilities.
- Manage the corporate HS management of change program and participate in reviews of capital projects to ensure all regulatory and company requirements are met.
- Lead corporate safety initiatives and integrate processes into daily operations of applicable departments in partnership with plant leadership teams and provide guidance on safety-related matters.
- Oversee the health and safety intranet page (ECHO) and content management.
- Oversee the corporate office headquarters health and safety program.
- Monitor facility incidents and ensure follow through on action items to ensure root cause of risks are being eliminated. Responsible for developing and implementing corporate-wide action plans across operations through shared learnings/best practices.
- Ensure accurate record keeping and retention of safety inspections, audits, incidents, and training programs.
- Assist with regular reporting of incident and KPI data across the organization.
- Foster a corporate-wide, safety-conscious culture of accountability through consistent, clear communication and feedback.
- Hold, represent, and clearly articulate the consistent view and opinion of the HS organization and its defined policy.
- Identify areas for continuous improvement and proactively implement changes.
- Support cross-functional and cross-departmental collaboration on HS initiatives across North American operations.
