This is an onsite position at our Bardstown, KY location. Travel to our Louisville operations site will be required.

What the Role Is

The Sr. Manager, Labor Relations is responsible for managing and overseeing the relationship between Heaven Hill, our collective bargaining unit employees, labor unions leaders, and collective bargaining agreements. This role involves ensuring compliance with labor laws and local union contracts as well as ensuring contract administration, interpretation, and education. This role will also resolve disputes, negotiate contracts, and foster a productive, fair, and respectful work environment.

How You Will Spend Your Time?

  • Contract Negotiation :

Lead and facilitate the negotiation of three collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) with labor unions.

  • Responsible for leading bargaining strategies, objectives, and limits with Senior Management input.
  • Ensure that negotiated terms align with the company’s goals while maintaining positive relationships with unions.
  • Contract Interpretation & Dispute Resolution :
  • Mediate and resolve conflicts between management and union representatives or between employees and Heaven Hill.

  • Handle grievances and disciplinary issues by investigating complaints and recommending resolutions.
  • Serve as a neutral party in disputes to prevent escalation into strikes, lockouts, or legal action.
  • Facilitate local hearings
  • Represent Heaven Hill at panel hearings
  • Consult with internal and external counsel on legal matters
  • Compliance with Labor Laws & Contracts :
  • Stay informed about federal, state, and local labor laws, including those related to wage and hour laws, discrimination, and health and safety.

  • Ensure Heaven Hill complies with all labor-related regulations and maintain necessary documentation.
  • Employee Relation :
  • Foster positive working relationships between management and employees, encouraging communication and cooperation.

  • Advise management on labor policies, practices, and strategies to improve employee satisfaction and productivity.
  • Training and Development :
  • Train management on effective labor relations practices, including handling union interactions, resolving disputes, and maintaining compliance with labor laws.

  • Educate employees on their rights under union agreements and labor laws.
  • Union Relations :
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with union representatives.

  • Act as Heaven Hill's primary contact for union-related issues and communications.
  • Strategic Planning and Reporting :
  • Provide regular reports and updates to senior management regarding labor relations issues, trends, and developments.

  • Contribute to long-term labor strategies to maintain workforce stability and reduce conflicts.
  • Who You Are…

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, labor relations, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in labor relations, human resources, or industrial relations, with a strong understanding of labor laws and union environments.
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of labor law and collective bargaining processes.
  • Ability to maintain a neutral, balanced approach in dispute resolution.
  • Proficiency in employee relations software and HR systems (preferably ADP).
  • Valued but not Required Skills and Experience :

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on diplomacy and tact.
  • Analytical mindset for assessing labor relations issues and developing effective solutions.
  • Physical Requirements

    While performing duties of job, employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, and use of computer; reach with hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
