What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator position at Heavy Duty Rentals?
OVERVIEW
BF Homes Florida is looking for a dependable and safety-focused Machine Operator/Laborer to join our construction team. You will be responsible for operating heavy machinery to assist in preparing residential home sites, including excavation, grading, backfilling and any labor tasks related to maintaining or building the construction site. Important: you will work as an INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate excavators, skid steers, backhoes, and other heavy equipment for residential builds.
- Perform tasks such as site clearing, trenching for utilities, and lot grading.
- Conduct daily safety and equipment checks; maintain machinery in good working order.
- Follow instructions from the Site Supervisor and ensure tasks align with site plans.
- Adhere to safety regulations and report hazards immediately.
- Support in framing, installing windows/doors, stucco prep, and other construction tasks.
- Load/unload materials and assist with site cleanup and organization.
- Operate small tools and equipment (e.g., saws, drills, jackhammers) as required.
- Help prepare homes for inspections and coordinate with subcontractors when needed.
- Follow directions from the Construction Supervisor and maintain safe work habits.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating construction equipment.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
- Understanding of local safety protocols and best practices.
- Ability to read site maps and follow grading or excavation specs.
- Physically fit and capable of working outdoors in Florida conditions.
English, Spanish and Portuguese speakers are welcome for this job.

Pay: $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
