What is the work?
Project Management / Management:
- Serves as SME in Print and Mail areas to identify ideal client / job mix to maximize plant use and profitability
- Manages multiple client projects; adheres to customer budgets ranging from $1K up to $500K per project
- Identifies customer needs; converts them into innovative solutions / services; removes obstacles to progress; drives implementation strategy to achieve desires results
- Provides cost avoidance recommendations on client projects that help maximize plant capabilities, produce resource efficiencies, and reduce shrink
- Negotiates product / services pricing with clients to ensure plant profitability is sustained
- Designs / develops / administers project contracts, job work ticket, and service level agreements
- Facilitates communication between clients / production personnel while work is in process; maintains client communication during project deployment; keeps clients informed of project status, expense-to-budget, and timeline delivery
- Provides project status reports; keeps management team informed of progress, issues, concerns, and failures
- Regularly benchmarks internal projects, services, pricing to ensure best in class competitiveness is maintained
- Reconciles / resolves billing and invoicing discrepancies between client and plant production
Leadership / Strategy:
- Provides leadership on process-related guidance and industry best practices
- Guides management to properly align products / services to provide best value for client and return for H-E-B
- Serves as subject matter expert / acts on behalf of the Plant when securing new business
- Assembles / directs project team (H-E-B Partners, external vendors, cross-departmental teams, etc.) to help achieve client requirements and expectations
- Initiates, develops internal / external requests for proposal
- Identifies new print and mail trends to anticipate client demand / requirements; helps guide strategic positioning
- Identifies / formulates strategies for overcoming client barriers and improving customer relations to retain / regain business
- Consistently seeks innovative methods, processes, best practices, and products to improve Print Plant's value proposition and strategic value
- Participates in / may lead meetings to offer solutions to our varied clients (Advertising, HR, PSC, MWT Ops) in support of strategic initiatives
What is your background?
- Bachelor's degree, or comparable experience
- 6 years of experience in a print and mail environment
- 5 years of experience
Do you have what it takes to be a fit as a Client Project Manager at H-E-B?
- Working knowledge of required job-related processes and safety procedures, chemicals used in the job, uses and hazards, and proper disposal methods
- Working knowledge of terminology / processes related to printing (including lithography, flexography, silk screening) and mailing services
- Working knowledge of pre-press operations, printing processes / finishing techniques, printing papers, and their uses / characteristics
- Advanced communication and organization skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong PC skills (MS Office, Illustrator, QuarkXPress, InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Professional, etc.)
- Ability to foresee / prevent errors and solve problems
- Ability to understand a material safety data sheet (MSDS)
- Ability to perform under schedule / deadline pressures
