The SGML/XML Specialist is responsible for conversion and sustainment of digital technical manuals for military systems. The SGML/XML Specialist may be responsible for the publishing process from authoring to final production including proofreading and ensuring 100 percent accuracy. They are responsible for analyzing projects to determine the job requirements and the scope of work. Typical duties include:
- Write and structure SGML/XML content for technical manuals
- Perform SGML/XML parsing, maintenance and formatting in accordance with detailed checklists
- Perform various quality control processes including editor review, peer review and word-for-word of technical manual content
- Produce supporting documentation for submittal of technical manuals
- Generate reports associated with technical manual
- Finalize output and delivery of electronic data
