What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Teacher position at Hebrew Academy of the Capital District?
Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction and guidance to students in the absence of the regular teacher
- Follow lesson plans provided by the absent teacher or create and implement your own lesson plans as needed
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Manage student behavior and enforce school policies
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, behavior, and academic progress
Experience:
- Previous experience working with children or students in a childcare or educational setting
- Familiarity with lesson planning and curriculum development
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles and practices
- Strong behavior management skills
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom and engage students in learning
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education or a related field is preferred, but not required
- Valid teaching certificate or substitute teaching permit is preferred, but not required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions from the absent teacher or school administration
NOTE: The pay is $50 for 1/2 day and $100 for a full day.
Please note that this is a substitute position, which means that hours may vary depending on the needs of the school. Substitute teachers are typically called on an as-needed basis to cover for absent teachers.
