POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Executive Chef, the Dishwasher is responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen area at all times. Following all procedures to ensure the dining and cooking utensils and equipment is clean and sanitized during every shift. Removal of all trash and recycling out of the kitchen to the receiving hallway and dumpster. This position also makes it a priority to restock all the dining utensils in the wait staff area for the service of meals. Will assist in keeping all food storage areas clean and organized. Is responsible to assist or manage a food service delivery. Required to assist in light food prep and/or assembly line of plating foods as needed. Must obtain and keep an updated "Food Handler" license from DPH at all times. Other job duties as assigned.
Must have a working knowledge of all kosher procedures as it relates to the maintenance of kitchen areas.
RESPONSIBILITIY
- Is responsible for the operation of the dish machine for all dining and kitchen utensils.
- Will assist in light food preparation with the Ex.Chef, Sous Chef, and cooks as requested.
- Takes temperature readings of the dish machine and sanitizer tests of all cleaning areas.
- Cleans and sanitizes all food service equipment.
- Puts away clean dishes, pots and pans. Restocking both the kitchen and wait staff areas.
- Will assist in plate assembly during hot meal times due to wait staff shortages.
- Maintains knowledge of Kashrut procedures.
- Will bus tables and enter the dining room to remove dirty dishes
- Organizes and keeps clean the storage rooms after food orders arrive.
- Places all trash in the proper containers
- Sweeps and mops floors, removes trash and recyclables to the loading dock.
- Utilizes personal protective equipment to protect self and co-workers from injury.
- Utilizes good body mechanics and lifting techniques.
Qualifications
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Stands for long periods of time throughout the workday.
- Must follow all safety procedures to avoid bums, cuts, falls etc. Will require bending, lifting, carrying and pushing heavy items. Subject to working in hot work environments.
- Required handling of hot food items and light food preparation Must be able to move at least 25 lbs. unassisted
- Physically able to bend, reach and work in small areas Physically able to push and pull equipment and furnishings
- Physically able to stand and work on hands and knees for long periods
PERSONNEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
- Ability to complete work in a timely manner and before the end of a shift.
- Ability to relate appropriately with staff, residents and families and have a positive customer service approach to meeting various needs.
- Ability to read and write and communicate in an effective manner.
- Ability to answer phone calls and communicate requests as needed.
