Hebrew Public schools offer partial immersion programs in Modern Hebrew with an accompanying focus on the study of Israel.
Hebrew Public's network currently has thirteen schools (eight elementary and five middle schools) in four states and the District of Columbia, serving more than 3,800 students. In NYC, we serve as the Charter Management Organization for schools in Brooklyn, Harlem, Staten Island and Philadelphia.
The network's first school in Philadelphia, Philadelphia Hebrew Public, opened in 2019, serving 156 students in Kindergarten and 1st grade. The school will expand to 5th grade in 2023-24 and will add a grade level each year until it ultimately serves grades K to 8 in the 2026-27 school year. PHP provides students with a sophisticated core curriculum in English Language Arts, mathematics, Modern Hebrew, the sciences, social studies, art, and physical education.

We are seeking a driven Emotional Support Classroom Counselor for the 2024-2025 school year that operates with a high sense of urgency and possesses a strong work ethic. Candidates for this position do NOT need to speak Hebrew. The School is fully committed to a culturally diverse faculty and student body. Job Responsibilities and Characteristics
The classroom counselor is committed to supporting students with emotional disabilities and other health impairments to gain academic and behavioral success in the special education and general education setting. Duties and responsibilities include :
- Ability to implement small group academic supports
- Ability to teach and reinforce appropriate positive behaviors
- Ability to de-escalate and manage student in crisis
- Ability to collaborate with general and special education teachers to implement Positive Behavior Supports for student with Emotional Support needs
- Ability to work as a team member to create and reinforce a healthy classroom culture for staff and students.
- Completing other identified tasks
- Detail-oriented and committed to collect specified behavioral data to support student programming
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work well as a member of a classroom and school team
- Results-oriented individual – a flexible thinker willing to do "whatever it takes."
- Open to continuously develop behavioral management skills through professional development
Minimum Requirements :
Physical Requirements : Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required such as maneuvering in classrooms and physically supporting students in the classroom; Standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, speak loudly and clearly, seeing and hearing things both near and far away, stooping, kneeling, fine finger and hand manipulation in use of a computer, chalkboard, dry erase board or projector.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS :
Salary and benefits will be highly competitive, equitable, and commensurate with experience. Salary range is $35,000 - $40,000 based on experience and qualifications.
