Overview
All substitute positions are temporary and on an as-needed basis. This position is responsible for providing instruction and managing classroom environments in absence of the regular teacher. A Substitute Teacher is expected to aid Hebron Christian Academy in achieving its mission. A commitment to excellence and unparalleled customer service is needed and is the expectation of all Hebron employees.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Must attend one of the annual meetings; complete required training.
Previous successful substitute teaching experience preferred.
Ability to pass a background check.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Executes lesson plans consistent with the teacher’s guidelines, and school curriculum.
- Upholds an orderly classroom environment and provides a positive learning experience.
- Knows emergency protocols, such as fire drills and lockdowns.
- Assigns and explains homework according to teacher’s lesson plans.
- Complies with all school regulations and policies at all times.
- Compiles a report for the teacher for when he/she returns, including absences, progress with lesson plan, disciplinary actions, etc.
- Performs other duties for the successful and safe operation of the school such as carpool, lunch, and other assignments as necessary.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
