Operations Accountant
The Operations Accountant is responsible for all areas of financial reporting and administration support within each of the assigned operating locations for Hedstrom. This position will be primarily responsible for maintaining accounting & reporting to ensure accurate and timely financial statements for the assigned entities.
This position is for those who enjoy working in a cross-functional manner on various accounting & finance activities including general ledger preparation, periodic and ad hoc financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, banking support, and other operational support.
Every day will be different, and the Operations Accountant will need to embrace the multi-tasking required to be successful in the role. The role has a high degree of visibility within the organization, given the small team today. Further, this role is a new role that is being created, so the organization is looking for an individual with a “can do” attitude.
Responsibilities:
-Oversee the general ledger and support the preparation of the monthly financial statements for assigned operating company locations. Operational accounting & reporting including:
- Assigned month end close processes
- Review all aspects of working capital: AP, AR, credit card payable / expense management, and accrued & prepaid expenses
- Fixed asset tracking and related depreciation
- Daily Cash reconciliations
- Expense categorization support and any related supporting schedule updates
- Perform monthly location reconciliations
- Assist with basic cash management including cash forecasting
- Interface with colleagues and chief financial accountant on transactions and possible issues
- Interface with external partnerships to gather information as needed
- Gather necessary tax documentation and tax reporting as needed and report all new items to chief financial accountant
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree
- 3-5 years of financial accounting experience including experience managing multiple projects
- Preferred experience with corporate accounting
- Proficiency with spreadsheet, presentation, and various accounting software in a paperless environment
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion
