What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Associate position at Heffernan Insurance Brokers?
Objective:
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and determined professional to play a fundamental role in supporting our ambitious revenue growth objectives. You must be comfortable making dozens of calls per day, generating interest in our programs, qualifying prospects and soliciting insurance submissions. You will gain an understanding of our Company’s brand and philosophy and be an ambassador for Tangram in the marketplace.
This role reports directly to our VP of Sales.
Responsibilities include:
- Learn to articulate Tangram’s overall vision, business and programs
- Drive submissions through outbound calls, emails and inbound lead follow-up
- Accountable for driving individual goals as outlined, including activity metrics
- Increase production with existing brokers and generate submissions
- Research potential broker partners, identify key contacts/decision makers, initiate calls, and generate interest
- Assemble key reports/metrics on broker performance on periodic basis
- Document and track all activities in our CRM system
- Understand broker needs and requirements
- Help with pipeline activities (as requested) such as follow ups for quotes, needed info, etc.
- Gain deep understanding of territory opportunities and challenges to inform the team
- Attend all appropriate meetings to gain exposure to the team, clients and partners
- Learn to articulate our program features and services
- Maintain and expand our database of prospects within your assigned territory
- Attend periodic sales training and be open and responsive to sales coaching
- Communicate our brand identity and represent us through professionalism and Tangram core values.
- Special projects as assigned
Requirements:
- 3 years of proven sales experience in the insurance industry (workers’ comp and package experience a plus).
- College degree or acceptable combination of education and experience
- Track record of over-achieving individual metrics and goals
- Strong phone presence and experience dialing dozens of calls per day
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to stay organized, prioritize and manage time effectively
- Personal initiative to work independently
- Solid internet, Excel and Word skills
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $95,000, with opportunity for bonus incentive. The offer will depend on the geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
