Hegira Health, Inc. (HHI), a private non-profit corporation, is one of the largest freestanding behavioral healthcare agencies in the area. HHI, accredited by the Joint Commission and licensed by the State of Michigan, provides a broad array of mental health and substance abuse treatment and prevention services to individuals of all ages.
Oakdale Recovery Center (ORC) - provides withdrawal management and short-term residential treatment services to adults with substance use disorders, many whom have mental health disorders as well. Average LOS is 3 days for WD and 14 days for residential treatment. Hegira Health, Inc. The shift is:
- Full Time - Afternoon Monday through Friday 2:00pm - 10:30pm
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- RN or LPN licensed to practice in the State of Michigan.
- One or more years leadership.
- Three or more years nursing experience relative to behavioral healthcare.
- Understanding of the physiological and psychological process of detoxification from substance use disorder.
- Understanding of nursing services for persons diagnosed with substance use disorder and mental illness, including pharmacology, diagnostic, risk assessment, and treatment approaches
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (Summary of):
Supervision
· Assist Nurse Supervisor in orientation and training of new nursing staff to policies and procedures of Oakdale Recovery Center (ORC) and Hegira Health Inc. (HHI).
- Assist in coordinating bi-weekly nursing staff schedules, post and when ensure when on-call assignments align with staffing needs and comply with relevant policies.
- Assist with conducting monthly nurse staff meetings.
- Assist in developing training tools/process, implements and monitors learning for all new nursing services policy/procedures/processes.
Indirect Services
- Assist in performing random audit of client records to measure quality of nursing documentation.
- Ensure the method of communication between nursing staff is effective for shift reports and procedural changes.
- Support the orientation process for new nursing staff members.
- Assist in organizing and facilitating ongoing training programs CPR, Narcan etc. and in developing educational materials.
- Collaborate with the nurse supervisor to monitor the performance of nursing staff.
- Ensure the delivery of quality care in accordance with established protocols.
Intake
- Complete the Physical Health History Form or Biopsychosocial per program policy.
- Begin the initial Nursing Care Plan (or Nursing portion of the multi-disciplinary Plan) within the first 24 hours of admission.
- Order all medications for detox, psychiatric or health conditions.
- Begin a medication record on the client.
- Complete client’s TB test (Detox/SA and COD Residential only).
- Ensure Urine Drug Screen is completed (Detox/SA and COD Residential only).
- Assist with monitoring medication accountability by documenting all medication brought into the facility, securing the medication, and by receiving client’s signature.
- Assist the provider in the examination process as needed.
Daily Care
- Complete client medication orders to include transcribing orders, faxing orders to pharmacy as ordered by provider.
- Complete a medication, controlled substance count at each work shift completion with oncoming nurse.
- Complete CIWA/COWS assessment judiciously with excellent documentation of results to include vital signs, response, behavior, and concerns.
- Complete medication administration using nursing six rights of administration.
- Provide client education regarding medication ordered only, wellness, and health monitoring, as needed.
- Maintain relationships with clients within boundaries established per licensing guidelines and HHI ethical pledge.
Discharge
- Complete medications, labs, TB skin test, external referrals, physical status, medical condition, intervention, etc. within 24 hours of discharge.
- Complete Continuing Care Plan.
- Complete the Medication Reconciliation form.
- Prepare all necessary prescriptions and package medications for clients at time of discharge.
Hegira Health Inc. Nursing Requirements
- Maintain client confidentiality per federal guidelines- HIPAA, and HHI policy.
- Provide therapist, providers (physician, nurse practitioner (NP/DNP), physician’s assistant (PA)) with timely, pertinent information regarding client conditions.
- Be knowledgeable of potential side effects or adverse reactions of psychotropic medications.
- Monitor clients for self-harming behaviors and report to providers, clinicians, Nurse Manager, and ORC leadership.
- Notify Nurse Manager and/or HHI DQM immediately of suspected violation of licensing laws.
- Document staff behavior/action contrary to HHI policy and/or licensing immediately. Provide remediation of information and practice.
- Report to the Nurse Manager any irregularities that affect a client’s medical process.
Pay is based upon years of related experience.
