JOB SUMMARY
The Area Sales Leader will be responsible for overseeing Team Leaders and driving sales activities. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills who can motivate a sales team, develop and execute sales strategies, and build lasting relationships with clients to achieve and exceed sales targets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
TEAM LEADERSHIP
- Help conduct weekly sales meetings with sales management and sales professionals to address key information; prepare content to discuss monthly and yearly progress, goals and developments.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of sales professionals to ensure high performance and achieve individual and team sales targets.
- Provide ongoing training, support, and feedback to enhance the team’s sales skills and product knowledge.
- In coordination with the VP of Wine Trends, hire and oversee training of all sales associates as needed.
- In coordination with the VP of Wine Trends, initiate, document, and oversee performance improvement over all Team Leaders and Sales Professionals as needed.
SALES PERFORMANCE
- Develop and contribute to effective sales approaches for various brands, suppliers and in-house sales divisions.
- Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics and KPIs to ensure alignment with business objectives.
MARKET KNOWLEDGE
- Conduct in-market activity days each month, including but not limited to Sales Professional and Team Leader Ride-Withs, Store Surveys, and Secondary Call requirements on top volume accounts.
- Maintains knowledge of Wine Trends Portfolio, key market measures, including but not limited to market share, sales vs. budget, sales trends (including chain and independent trends), and scorecard performance.
- Knowledgeable of competition in the market and proactively addressing “at-risk” situations for Heidelberg brands.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities and potential markets within the area.
BUDGET MANAGEMENT
- Manage and optimize the sales budget for the area, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.
- Monitor expenses and provide recommendations for improvements or adjustments as needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma/GED required
- Minimum five years of relevant sales experience with a record of meeting and exceeding goals
- Previous experience in management and/or leadership position
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office/Office 365
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Must maintain a valid Driver’s License at all times, with insurance coverage acceptable to the Company’s provider, in its sole discretion. Must abide by all traffic and motor vehicle laws and regulations.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be able to work flexible hours throughout the week, including some weekends and holidays
- This position operates in a professional office environment but requires regular travel and on-site work in a customer retail environment
- Regular, consistent attendance is required.
- Dress code is business casual; closed-toe shoes are suggested. Other restrictions may apply.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, balance, walk, climb stairs, sit, use hands to feel and handle objects, tools, or controls, including standard office equipment such as computers and phones, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, proper vision and ability to focus.
