What are the responsibilities and job description for the Team Leader position at Heidelberg Distributing Company?
The Team Leader is responsible for overseeing and achieving sales goals within a defined territory. This individual is tasked to drive sales through effective sales and marketing strategies, coordination with chain and key accounts and customer relationship management. They will manage a team of sales professionals to coordinate and monitor their sales efforts aligning individual and company goals. They will lead and motivate by setting a good example and engaging their team.
TEAM LEADERSHIP
- Train, manage and motivate assigned sales professionals on selling and merchandising strategies for assigned territory.
- Communicate, enforce, and monitor sales programs as they develop.
- Analyze sales performance to help assigned sales professionals enhance their sales volume.
- Recognize high performance and reward accomplishments.
- Conduct weekly sales team meeting for assigned sales professionals to communicate sales progress, goals, and concerns.
- Initiate, document, and oversee disciplinary action over assigned sales professionals as needed.
SALES
- Identify new opportunities in assigned territory for increased market share and new accounts.
- Build relationships with new and existing accounts to lay foundation for distribution and special requests.
- Assist sales professionals on daily sales calls as needed.
- Evaluate market conditions for assigned territory and proactively approach risks and needs.
- Summarize and review sales and market information with Area Sales Leader.
- Attend weekly sales leader and sales meetings.
- Weekly in-market time spent riding with sales professionals, assisting with store resets and other duties as requested by Area Sales Leader.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma/GED required
- Valid driver’s license required
- Required to drive to multiple locations and maintain sufficient insurance. Must abide by all traffic and motor vehicle laws and regulations.
- Minimum three years relevant sales experience with a record of meeting and exceeding goals
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to work flexible hours through the week, including some weekends and holidays
- Must be able to lift, carry, and rotate product
- Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions and wide temperature variations
- Week before and, during National Holidays are a must to work
- Dress code is business casual; closed-toe shoes are suggested. Other restrictions may apply.
