General Job Description:
Schedule & meet with potential clients to discuss the scope of their remodel or repair and begin the estimate process. Compile a written estimate using sourced bids from sub-contractors, material vendors, calculated field staff hours, permits and various other costs to create a final client Proposal. Present the proposal to the client for the sale, ensuring that the total scope of the job has been addressed and that their budget needs were met. After the sale of the job, working with the Production Manager on an initial visit to relay the scope and discuss details and material specs for the field staff to implement and start the production phase. Also work with the Production Manager and client during the production phase to create change orders if need.
Essential Job Duties:
- Schedule visits to meet with prospective clients from lead sheets.
- Responsible for preparing estimates, writing proposal & closing sale.
- Work with Subcontractors and vendors to procure the best pricing for the project budget and estimate final total.
- Read & interpret plans and specifications, prepare project design layouts and/or coordinate project drawings with architect/engineering firm.
- Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.
- After the sale of the job, the Estimator will work in a timely manner with the client and Production Manager on any change orders to the project so as not to impede progress towards the completion of the project.
- Work with Interior Designers, both on staff and outside, regarding client material selections and design choices.
- Work with Insurance Adjusters for repairs related to storm damages, water leaks, etc...
- Work with office team on sales/marketing strategies and implementing that process.
- Continued education, certification and licensing as required for the position, so that you are aware of current standards, trends and code updates.
- Participate in monthly team meetings to review company progress and strategize on ways to improve the estimating department or discuss things that aren't working well.
- May perform additional assignments at the request of the Owner/President.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous home construction and remodeling experience is preferred.
- Some college or technical training or substantial estimating experience.
- Experience with Sage Estimating or comparable estimating software, CAD drawing software, office machines, email and various computer applications.
- Ability to use reason and logic and to express ideas clearly to others - in speech and writing.
- Ability to work with figures quickly and accurately.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work under timelines with accuracy & speed.
