JOB SUMMARY
Create and maintain the credit and collection function at the regional level within the parameters of corporate policies, procedures, and goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as assigned.
- Interface with customers, regional, branch and sales managers on customer accounts, as necessary.
- Set credit limits for new and existing accounts up to $200,000.00. Originate recommendations for higher credit limits.
- Supervise, motivate, train, and evaluate credit department staff as required.
- Review A/R Aging weekly, noting delinquent accounts and problems and act to expedite payment and resolve problems.
- Promote team effort and act as primary liaison between credit personnel, sales personnel, and customers. Maintain a high level of customer service.
- Review reports on a weekly or monthly basis and take necessary action to bring customers back within company guidelines. This includes, but is not limited to, aging reports, over credit limit reports, ship to reports, and evaluation reports.
- Authority to place accounts for collection and write-off bad debt accounts up to $10,000.00. Originates recommendations for collection or write-off of higher amounts. Keeps Corporate and/or National Credit Manager advised of all collection accounts for formal reporting.
- Process customer sales orders on a timely basis and within defined credit parameters.
- Conduct monthly training meetings to develop the credit department staff.
- Communicate problems and status of activities to the Corporate and/or National Credit Manager as necessary.
- Visit branches and customers as required.
- Attend and participate in local industrial credit interchange group meetings and activities.
- Complete all special projects assigned by the Corporate and/or National Credit Manager or CFO/Controller.
- Facilitate customer updates for credit limits of $50K or more on a quarterly or annual basis based on the amount of credit limit exposure.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in financial management or connected areas or in lieu of degree a combination of 5 years' experience in similar role and field.
- Prior experience as a Credit Analyst, Credit Manager or a similar position and related fields such as accounting, business administration, or banking.
- Prior leadership role is preferred.
