Heinzerling Community is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Facility Services and Safety to oversee the maintenance, safety, and cleanliness of our facilities. The Director will ensure all buildings, equipment, and grounds are maintained safely and efficiently. This role involves managing a team, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting the safety of our employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee maintenance personnel and contractors for equipment installation, repairs, HVAC systems, fire alarms, grounds upkeep, and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with Ohio Department of Health Life Safety, Fire, DODD, OSHA, and other regulations.
- Coordinate staff training on disaster policies, fire safety, hazardous materials, and emergency plans.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for safety and environmental services in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Oversee Environmental Services Associates (ESA) to ensure a clean and safe environment for residents and staff.
- Lead safety initiatives, conduct facility safety inspections, and ensure all safety measures are followed.
- Supervise and evaluate maintenance and environmental service staff, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Act as liaison with external agencies for utilities, environmental concerns, and energy management.
- Lead and chair the Safety Committee and manage the maintenance of material safety data sheets (MSDS).
- Develop and manage budgets for facilities modifications, repairs, and equipment procurement.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities and grounds to ensure safety and compliance with health regulations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Direct and supervise employees across maintenance and environmental services departments.
- Ensure adherence to policies, training, and performance evaluations.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or equivalent; 5 years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience.
- Supervisory experience required.
- Strong knowledge of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes, OSHA regulations, and safety protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must have a current, valid driver's license.
- Certified Executive Housekeeper certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and reach regularly.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, weather conditions, and potentially hazardous materials.
- Must be able to work in a moderately loud work environment.
