Position Overview :
The Wheelchair Technician works closely with our Therapy Department to support the fitting, construction, modification, maintenance, and repair of seating systems and wheelchair frames. This role involves collaboration with licensed therapists to ensure each resident’s mobility and comfort needs are met with precision and care.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist therapists in conducting seating assessments, offering technical expertise on wheelchair frames and seating products.
- Participate in seating clinics alongside therapists and physicians to assess individual needs.
- Collaborate with wheelchair manufacturers and vendors to customize equipment features based on resident requirements.
- Construct and modify planar and custom-molded seating systems as per therapist assessments and physician orders.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on seating systems, wheelchair frames, and other mobility aids (e.g., standers, bicycles, walkers, gait-trainers).
- Ensure safety and proper functioning of all equipment.
