Job Description:
As a Mental Health Recovery Specialist at the Helen Farabee Center, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Your primary responsibility will be to provide recovery and wellness support, mentoring, and advocacy to help individuals regain control over their lives and recovery process. You will work under the supervision of a Qualified Peer Support Supervisor and be part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional support services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide support services to individuals in an outpatient setting, including individual and group sessions.
• Model personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and hopefulness by sharing your recovery story to inspire others.
• Support individuals and learning teams by providing hope, encouragement, support, self-determination, and connection to the community.
• Demonstrate teamwork, initiative, and positive example in work habits at all times.
Requirements and Qualifications:
A standard high school diploma or GED is required. You must also be eligible for certification as a Mental Health Peer Specialist according to state guidelines and ViaHope policies and procedures. One year of successful treatment for a mental health issue and a willingness to disclose your lived experience and work toward recovery are essential. A valid driver's license and insurability to drive Center vehicles are also required. Certification as a Mental Health Peer Specialist (MHPS) must be obtained within 18 months of employment.
