What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Superintendent C position at Helen Hayes Hospital?
Lay out work, assign work orders and coordinate daily activities using the appropriate staff and follow up to ensure proper completion of assignments. Maintain accurate DOH and Joint Commission compliant written logs and records. Review and ensure all department P&Ps are accurate and adhered to. Order and stock necessary parts and materials needed by the department for repairs and maintenance. Prepare Requisitions for duties as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Six years of experience in a physical plant in an institutional, educational, laboratory, or healthcare setting, or a power plant, which must include management of daily plant operations including procedure development, budget planning and workforce allocation, efficiency, and enforcement of codes and standards; capital planning of construction/rehabilitation projects; AND/OR contract management of building maintenance/construction/rehabilitation projects and grounds.
Minimum Qualifications:
An associate degree in a related field can substitute for two years of specialized experience; a bachelor’s in a related field degree can substitute for four years of experience; a master’s degree in a related field can substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate in a related field can substitute for six years of experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
Three to five years of second-level supervisory experience in the operation and maintenance of a physical plant. Working knowledge of practices and techniques of the electrical, plumbing, HVAC and carpentry trades. Ability to read and understand electrical/mechanical blue prints and advanced trouble shooting skills to diagnose and repair electrical/mechanical issues. Knowledge of DOH and Joint Commission standards as they apply to the facility
